Putin news conference: Trump says no agreement reached with Putin on "the most important" aspects.

On August 16, U.S. President Trump stated during a joint press conference with Russian President Putin that he and Putin did not reach an agreement on "what could be the most important aspect" during their meeting, but there is a great possibility of reaching an agreement.

He said, "We have reached an agreement on many issues. Only a few points remain. Some are not that important."

One of the most important possibilities, however, we have a great chance of achieving this goal. We have not done this yet, but we are very likely to do it." He will later call Ukrainian President Zelensky and the leaders of NATO countries, as well as some he deems appropriate, to report on the meeting.

Trump expressed hope that both the United States and Russia can have good and productive meetings in the future, and he expects to meet with Putin again soon. Russian President Putin stated that the talks with U.S. President Trump were constructive, and that we have established a very good direct connection with Trump.

We sincerely hope to end the conflict, but all root causes must be eliminated, and all of Russia's concerns must be taken into account. Thank you to Trump for the cooperation and friendly attitude in discussions. We expect that Ukraine and Europe will not attempt to undermine the talks.
